More Digital Painting

 This was more complicated to paint. We were not trying to replicate the texture or the background.

It it the last of the black and white paintings we will be doing in this class. Next we will be moving on to painting the props we designed.

Expressionism Inspired by Music

 My results from this exercise were very interesting. Despite the fact that I listen to a wide variety of music I am very particular about the music that I like. Due to my Hyperacusis some sounds that are normal for other people are physically painful for me. This was reflected in the third piece, which was based upon a Jazz song. The calm sounds of the music was cut across sharply by the painful sound of a trumpet, which is almost always a painful instrument for me to listen to. The first song is one of heavy drumbeats and brass that will be forever associated with 2001: A Space Odyssey   The second was classical, with a strong main theme. This was the Jazz piece. The next song was a very soothing classical piece. This last was a Funeral March by Wagner. I did not not know it was called that at the time I painted it, but the sombre background was the first impression I got from the song.

Steve Buscemi Caricature

 This assignment was to create a surrealist anthropomorphized caricature of a famous person. I chose Steve Buscemi, who is a really great actor and has done a number of roles in animated movies. It had to be a small nervous dog to match the types of roles he usually plays.   Here is the finished result:

Digital Painting of Grogu from The Mandalorian

 I love the character of Grogu from The Mandalorian, and was disappointed when I could not find a t-shirt of him that I liked at the local Comicon last September. I decided to make my own t-shirt. The first version was OK, but not great. That was before I had any knowledge of digital painting. I am now about to start my third semester at the Illustration and Concept Art Program at Algonquin College and I can see how far my skills have progressed with this new painting. .
